First Impressions Count

Updated: Jan 9, 2020

When was the last time you changed your profile picture? Was it a true representation of yourself? What does it say about you?

For someone who doesn’t know you, 1st impressions are made by looking at your profile picture. Recruiters spend a lot of their time on your on-line presence which means, your picture can be as important as your skills and past achievements.

Follow these simple steps to get your image right: -

1. Make sure your picture is recent and a true representation of what you look like. You don’t want to surprise someone when you meet because you have heavily retouched your image or it was taken 20yrs ago.

2. A face to a name helps people remember you. Using the same image throughout your social media accounts will….

A/save you time

B/people will recognise you when they are searching for you.

C/help find you if you have a common first or last name

3. Avoid using a random generic image. Having an up-to-date image of yourself especially on linkedIn shows your account is active and not made-up or fake.

4. The way you look is your own unique brand. Your photograph gives people a clue as to who you are and your personality. What message are you trying to convey?
